KILLINGS DUBUS PDF

The love for a child or the love of a spouse can make a person act in ways that can surpass their own understanding, and this was the case for Matt and Ruth Fowler. They had to endure the pain of burying their year-old son, Frank, after being murdered by a man who was able to walk the streets with little to no remorse for the sin he had just committed. Matt Fowler realized the law was no longer on their side and decided to take matters into his own hands. Instead of correcting his son and telling him to not curse his enemies, Matt stayed silent. He observed his family and witnessed their suffering.

Feelings of anger and righteousness are illustrated by the character throughout the story. The lead character, Matt Fowler goes one step too far and identifies with the evil that tragically marred his life-the murder of his son. Matt and his friend Willis Trottier executed Richard Strout, the man who killed his son. She sees him all the time. Matt could no longer tolerate watching his wife deteriorate before his eyes simply because she cannot cope with the loss of their son.

Finally, he decided to bring grief resolution to both of them by killing Strout. Fowler is extremely saddened by his act. In the story, Strout, the man who is shot, is clearly guilty but he is also a human being and that knowledge was suppressed by Fowler to kill him.

In carrying out the deed, Fowler became isolated even to those sympathize with his violence. These stories are similar in plot and theme. Both of these stories deal with murder, love and revenge. Though, love and murder are presented in different ways in the two stories. The main character in both these stories are of the opposite sex and they are both the protagonist.
